পুরুলিয়ার বাহা পরব (Baha Parab of Purulia)

Baha Parab is the spring festival of  Santhal, Munda, Ho and other tribes of India. Baha means flowers, while Parab means festival. This festival of flowers is observed to pray to Marang Buru (male deity) and Jaher Ara (female deity). Naikey (the priest) offers leaves and flowers of Sal tree to Jaherthan (altar) and there after distributes the holy Sal flowers among the devotees. He goes from door to door to bless everybody and the ladies wash his feet with oil and water. Along with this ritual, songs, dance, Madal drum beats go on with great enthusiasm.
