Floating Life of Loktak Lake

Loktak Lake of Manipur is unique for its phumdis. Phumdis are heterogeneous mass vegetation those float over water. These are capable to carry huge weight. One can easily walk on it. Even huts are made over phumdis. The largest phumdi is called as Keibul Lamjao National Park. It is the one and only floating national park of the world, home to the endangered Sangai Deer (Dancing Deer). Local fishermen cut the phumdis in ring-shape for fishing purpose. This blog and the movie (attached herewith) is based on how Loktak Lake is used as a source of livelihood for the locals.
